Welcome to WHAI
The Women's History Association of Ireland (WHAI) was founded in 1989 to promote research into all aspects of women's experience in Ireland from earliest times to the present, and to provide a network for all those interested in women's history.
WHAI holds an annual conference, usually in March, and organises seminars, lectures and other events throughout the year. The association publishes a newsletter and maintains links with similar organisations internationally, particularly through the International Federation for Research in Women's History (IFRWH).
Activities & Events
WHAI regularly organises conferences, workshops, and public lectures on topics related to women's history in Ireland. Our annual conference brings together scholars, students, and members of the public with an interest in women's past.
We also collaborate with universities, museums, and heritage organisations to promote the visibility of women's contributions to Irish society and culture.
Membership
Membership of WHAI is open to anyone with an interest in women's history. Members receive regular newsletters, reduced conference fees, and access to our network of researchers and enthusiasts.
